Venezuela reiterates willingness to keep respectful relationships with U.S.

Caracas, 11 Ago. AVN.- Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, stressed on Thursday the willingness to keep relations, based on mutual respect, with the government of the United States, despite the actions taken by the American nation against Venezuela.

In a joint radio and television address, Maduro said that the Venezuelan people will defend the sovereignty and self-determination conquered by the Bolivarian Revolution.

"Do not underestimate Venezuela, watch out for the orders they are giving on Venezuela. It is not a Maduro's problem here, but a constituent people who say they want a homeland. It is a people, not a man who is in political power," the President said during a special session of the National Constituent Assembly.

In this regard, he instructed his Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza to initiate the necessary steps to hold a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump during next General Assembly of the United Nations, to take place in New York, next September.
